A BLESSING AND A CURSE

Tonight, I drank a glass of wine… it’s a blessing and a curse. The beautiful soothing notes in the flavors entice one into a relaxed state of blissful forgetfulness and yet, if taken too often, it can become a sinful delicacy of escape from reality. As with all things in life, everything can enhance your experience her on this planet or disturb your peace.

This made me think and re-evaluate my life… the life that made me write my stories. I began telling stories to deflect tension from the outside pressures, to let my youngest sibling escape the reality of what was very dark in our childhood home. The pleasure I found in transporting a soul out of our suffocating reality and letting her drift into the inciting thrill of laughter of my silly storytelling, was the fire that led to where I am at.

Yes, at the beginning, it was to entertain her, but then it became something I practiced, to uplift the mood of the souls, with somber moods, around me. It fed my soul positively. It became an addiction. I daydreamed in order to escape my surroundings and to escape reality, to focus on something I could control and rewrite reality into positive outcomes. A place of reasoning and finding solace in the fact that stories always have a specific purpose even the darker parts in it.

Somewhere, where I could drift between perfect stories and outcomes to problematic situations. With this I, unbeknownst, took myself on a journey of evolving into a storyteller who feels compelled to put my stories on paper for the enjoyment of others.

As with everything, practice makes perfect and although life will never be perfect by design, I can write imperfectly perfect stories to entertain and refocus the mind into a state of relaxation and blissful escape. It’s addictive to see people smile, relax and forget about the brutal reality of life, even if it is for an hour or two.

It’s now a blessing and a curse and my mission was set in stone at a very young age. And yes, because of my story, I keep telling stories.
